Jason Bourne

I don't find Jason Bourne an amazing hero but there are some really cool scenes in the movie. Also Matt Damon is really handsome. When I finished I realized that his face is slightly two small for his head.

Painting on Your Computer

I was doodling in a photo editing program one day. I was playing with the brush dynamics when I found the random color setting. Below I have an example of my experimentations. First I scribbled with my default black and white FG (foreground) and BG (background) using random the random color dynamic. I saw that it used any random value between the FG and BG. So I tried it with two shades of blue. Interesting, but it still looked like toothpaste. Then I changed my brush(that's kind of like the shape of your virtual pen tip) and vuala! It looks like a brightly painted canvas. Here are some very simple pictures I (virtually) painted just to try it out.

Nick Wild

If you have seen the movie "Zootopia," you
probably recognize this character as Nick
Wild.

To be honest, I have been saving this picture for a while. I think this could be my best picture and I knew that if you saw this first, you would not appreciate my other drawings. It quite spectacular.

The Amazing Spiderman

One day I decided to draw something "all the way." Before When I drew pictures I might say "well that mistake doesn't really matter because if I had been doing it "all the way" I would have caught it. When I say "all the way"" I am referring to the process of drawing that a book might suggest you go through when drawing, such as drawing construction lines and then bit by bit adding more details. When you are sketching something in real life you might not bother with construction lines if you were worried that the sun would go down, or the cat would walk away or the ice would evaporate. In this piece I tried to do everything just so.

German Shepherd II

I drew this picture yesterday. I think I should have put a bit more work into the construction of his head and markings. As a whole, it's pretty good. But I think I could have done a better job.

His ears came out quite well.

Another Stallion

This stallion, I did using a 毛笔 like I did with the other horse I painted in ink. However this one is done in a rather different style. I like painting them this way. It can make them look rather striking and firm.

Horse

There is a sculpture of many horses in the waiting room of the Kunming train station. This is a quick sketch of one. I love the flowing main and erect pose.

A Farmer's Sunset

This, I did with crayons. I should have spent more time on getting his proportions right. It's alright as it is. I was listening to a talk at the time, so I drew this mainly to pass the time.

Flu Shots

      I am aware this blog is mainly for my art, but since it is my blog, I can share wherever I choose. Here is a short story I wrote for a health course I am taking. It is slightly informative on flu shots, I found this hilarious and I hope you do too. (For blog viewers who are caught unaries, Taobao is basically Chines Amazon)

Bob walked out of his mushroom house at 8 in the morning on Sunday to get the morning paper. The headline read, “Contagious flu spreads rapidly!” He dropped the paper on the dining table and ran all the way to the doctor’s office in his bathrobe.

“Doctor! Doctor! I’m worried I will get the flu!” blurted Bob.

“Ah! You have come to the right place. I have a solution. Simply stand on a stool at noon and lick a lime.”

At noon that day Bob stood on a stool outside his house and licked a lime. He stood outside because the ceiling of his mushroom house was much too low. The next morning, Bob walked out of his mushroom house to pick up the morning paper. The headline read, “Lime lickers fall ill!”

Bob was shocked and ran all the way to the doctor’s office in his bathrobe.

“Doctor! Doctor! I’m worried I will get the flu!” blurted Bob.

“Ah! You have come to the right place. I have a solution. Buy a raccoon and spray paint a red star on it.”

“Why would a raccoon help prevent the flu?” asked Bob.

“Oh wait... That is my cure for SARS. But you have come to the right place. I have a solution. You must sit on a stool and play the accordion. It will be even more effective if you can play a Turkish cancan.”

That day at noon Bob sat on a stool and played a Turkish cancan on his accordion. His Turkish neighbor started dancing inside his own mushroom house, but stopped after he broke down his dining room wall with a quick step.

The next morning, Bob walked out of his mushroom house to pick up the morning paper. The headline read, “Accordion virtuosos take extended sick days!”

Bob was shocked and ran all the way to the doctor’s office in his bathrobe.

“Doctor! Doctor! I’m worried I will get the flu!” blurted Bob.

“Ah! You have come to the right place. I have a solution. Sit cross-legged on the ground holding a stool above your head and hum the Yugoslavian national anthem backwards.”

That day at noon Bob sat cross-legged on the ground holding a stool above his head and hummed the Yugoslavian national anthem backwards. The next morning, Bob walked out of his mushroom house to pick up the morning paper. The headline read, “Influenza spreads throughout backwards Yugoslavian national anthem hummers!”

Bob was shocked and ran toward the doctor’s office in his bathrobe. In his hurry, he stumbled over a small mushroom and collided with Jim. Jim got up as quickly as he could.

“I’m sorry. Are you alright?” asked Bob.

“Certainly! But I must get back to my mushroom as soon as possible,” said Jim.

“Why is that?”

“Why, today is November 11^th. Everything is half price on Taobao today!”

“I won’t hold you up any longer. I hope you get a good bargain,” said Bob as Jim hurried off.

Then Bob, forgetting the flu, hurried back to his own mushroom and began searching Taobao. He typed, “emerald-inset waffle makers”, but it auto corrected to “flu shots”. He pressed enter just as he realized the change. He was just about to retype “emerald-inset waffle makers” when he glanced at his search results. “Effective preventative for this year’s flu”.

“Aha,” said Bob to himself. This is just what he needed. He glanced at the price. “88 for the price of 1!” How very auspicious! Bob ordered one set of 88 flu shots to be delivered the next day.

The next morning, Bob walked out of his mushroom house to pick up the morning paper. Outside his house was also a box of 88 flu shots, but they had not been very well packed. So there were 88 needles sticking out of one side. He decided they must have gotten very dirty in the shipping process, so he took them to the post office and sent them back.

The next morning, Bob walked out of his mushroom house to pick up the morning paper. Next to the morning paper was a box of 88 flu shots. This time the Taobao seller had packed his box much better and there were no needles poking out. He took out one of the flu shots when he was back in his mushroom house and carefully followed all the instructions. The flu shot only prevented the majority of flu viruses, but Bob felt much safer. He was reaching for the morning paper when the doctor ran into his house saying, “Bob! Bob! I’m afraid I will get the flu!”

Bob looked at the morning paper. The headline read, “Arabian pastoral landscape painters come down with the flu”. Bob looked at the doctor. He was holding an Arabian paintbrush.

“Ah! You have come to the right place. I have a solution,” said Bob. Then Bob gave the doctor a flu shot.

“This shot only has three dead viruses in it, but those three are specifically chosen to treat most of this year’s flu threat. Also, it will take about two weeks for you to form a substantial immunity,” Bob explained. Even though he could still get the flu, the doctor felt much safer.

Just then Bob’s Turkish neighbor walked through the hole in his dining room over to Bob’s house. “Help! Help! I’m afraid I will get the flu,” said Bob’s Turkish neighbor.

German Shepherd

This drawing of a german shepherd took a surprisingly small amount of time.  I finished it after one evening and about two hours afterwords. I like big dogs as well as wolves. No insult to small dogs but generally the bigger ones are better-looking.

ATAT

The all-terrain attack tank is a fearsome enemy and war machine in the battle on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back. Undoubtably worthy of an imposing portrayal in pencil.

If you haven't seen this Star Wars I would suggest you do.

Darth Vader

This single drawing took a very long time and more pencil lead than you know. Looking back I think I should have spent more time on the construction of his form rather than spending hours grinding in pencil lead into the paper. It still has a powerful effect in regard to contrast.

Cowboy in Ink

The shading on his face with lots of small
 lines is something I particularly like. It gives
 him a rugged weather-beaten look. I latter
 found out it was didn't work for drawing
 ladies because they needed a much smoother 
shading.

As you can tell I did this some time ago. I met an artist in Thailand that showed me a maker (Sakura Graphic 1) that he used in his art. When we got back home my mother looked in our art materials and released we owned one. So I sat down I drew this.

Zootopoia

I enjoyed Zootopoia as a movie, it had really good characters. But not only that I thought that the cartooning was particularly well done. Here I tried to capture the character's expressions and features. In the movie you can practically see just by their faces that Judy Hopps is young and friendly not to mention cute, and Nick is a bit sly and roguish.

The Samurai

Working on his detailed armor was monotonous but I really like how it turned out. In some ways I feel that his head was not nearly as good as the rest of him. A better job on his head would make it better but I still like this sketch.

Wolf Howl

Wolves are beautiful creations.

Wolf Sketch

This I copied from another sketch off the web. I like big dogs and wolves I have a big National Geographic photo of a wolf on a poster, on my wall. I just think they are amazingly beautiful.

Ink Stallion

This is a horse I saw painted on a plastic bag that I decided to copy. I painted it with a 毛笔 with ink. It was really fun to try a new medium.

The Hunt for Red October

These are two pictures are copied from the cover of "The Hunt for Red October" the movie. It is based off a book by Tom Clancy. I would defiantly recommend both, they are exiting with action and suspense.

I think Han Solo is just one of the coolest Heros of all fictional universes.

Captain Britain

This a picture copied from the book "Drawing Comics the Marvel Way" by Stan Lee. I would highly recommend this book. It teaches many helpful principles in drawing. You can download a free pdf online.
